I ported to CellC from MTN a couple weeks ago and I noticed today that I can no longer be reached by MTN subscribers. The network reports to them that my number does not exist.
I've obviously logged a ticket with CellC's porting department to look into it and they have sent a routing update request to MTN for my number, which they say could take 24 hours to be actioned. So I wait, unreachable from my old home network.
After speaking to a few more people, however, I found out that at least one other person on MTN had the same problem reaching one of his contacts today (who ported from MTN to CellC some years back). Which got me thinking, the problem may be more general than just my number being missing from a routing table...
Is there anybody else who ported from MTN to CellC that cannot be reached by MTN subscribers this week? Of course, like me, you may not be aware of it unless the poor soul trying to reach you manages to get hold of you out of band.
