It just does not.

There was a workaround that MTN quickly shut down.

You need a 128k sim for LTE. prepaid you get max 64k sim size so if you had a contract with a 128k simcard and migrated it to prepaid and the had someone to activate LTE again it would have worked.

Now they have disabled the LTE option completely to ALL prepaid customers. Why they do this I do not know. Complained about 4 months now and they just keep on saying LTE for prepaid comming soon.....

cavedog the reason LTE is deactivated for prepaid users is due to abuse - there are still loopholes for free internet once they patch things up then hopefully we will see prepaid users get LTE..

The sim card needs to be provisioned in order to operate on the LTE band. Example by default afrhost sim cards aren't provisioned they have to put in a request.

LTE is still pricey as hell... Sheesh. LTE seems to be quite fast and provide a experience similar to ADSL.

But really.. the price is not comparable for High end users. For the low-end user, LTE is like ADSL on steroids.

Think about it. ADSL 3gig user per month. Has to pay say R250-R300 per month for 3gig of Data (Line rental, DSL line rental and Data part). Working out R250 x 6months = R1500 (for 18gigs of data)

On HSDPA/LTE you can get from most ISPs these prepaid is about R999-R1800 once off. (So basically a 3rd of the price). The user then gets *depending on the ISP* 25gig-50gig Prepaid data.

Not bad at all. :)
