MTN pumps R6.6 billion into South African network

MTN South Africa has invested R6.6 billion into its network during the last quarter for additional capacity and resilience in the face of load-shedding.

South Africa’s second-largest mobile network operator reported its results for the period 1 July to 30 September 2023 on Tuesday.

Wait they have "invested R6.6 billion into its network" yet our little town in the Karoo, on a major route, regularly have days of no coverage because their infrastructure is too old?

Dear MTN, please pump a couple of billion into your technical staffing. A company that makes so much money should be leading that department. Come one guys... spend a little.

On the infrastructure side, I get no MTN where I am, but I don't care to be honest - where it does reach, it goes down like a rock during load shedding. We all have to use Vodacom... but we're clearly not of interest to MTN.
