Hi
I wanted to buy a data bundle on my MTN payasyougo and noticed that they offer a new option i.e. MTN Smartphone Services. I'm not sure what it entails but theres a lite and a pro package. Is this a flat rate service?
Any advice?
Thanks

Nothing on Google... maybe you should phone them or something and RPM should also look into it if it is in fact a flat rate data service.

in the name of science I bit the bullet and bought the MTN Smartphone Pro package for R49. Message I got was that it will expire on 01/03 but no bundles or anything reflected on the balance. Will keep you up to speed.

Took the plunge and down bought the Pro package as well.
Downloaded a 12mb and 14mb app and had R12 and R14 deducted from my airtime respectively.

Yep, same here, till all airtime was blown then....nothing....your move MTN. If anyone knows anybody from MTN could you please interrogate them about the service and let us know. A flat rate service would be a killer well as long as its not like 8kbps

Did some investigating sent an email to MTNSP they advised to contact 1555, since there was no power and nothing better to do I called them, at 1st the guy had no idea what i was talking about but anyway eventually he caught on, he explain that MTN Smartphone Lite has a FUP of 30mb and the pro has a FUP of 75mb I asked what happens if you pass the cap he said that you will get charged but didn't sound too sure though. A big fail on MTN's part launching a service without informing Staff

I also phoned them today the woman I spoke to did not have a clue as to what I was talking about. She then when to ask her supervisor and came back and told me they do not know what this MTN Smartphone Services is.

I hope that FUP you mention is per day and not per month.

Come on... Somebody get some info about these packages dammit. I will take a stab in the dark and say that the Opera mini option gives unlimited browsing via Opera Mini. The Social networking one gives unlimited twitter/Facebook and the Pro gives a combination of both.

Can someone test the Opera Mini option?

If I am right it looks like I am porting to MTN

According to the consultant said that the "Social networking" package is for Facebook and MXit only... the Nokia package is for Nokia Maps and Nokia store, I can't remember if emails was mentioned.

try calling them yourself if you like call 1555 and tell them that you saw the "Smartphone Services" on *141*6# menu

May be your luck, that you downloaded something not covered in the T&C. Maybe only emails and Social media is covered.
Keep us posted, please.
