I tried searching for something similar, so forgive me if there is already a thread like this.

I noticed last year already that I stopped receiving MTN SMS notifications. I used to get a lot of email from my brother until I told him to stop sending me so much spam, or to at least use another email address.

I logged in to My MTN Mail and checked notifications. They are turned on, and I changed it to "anytime", as well as turning notifications off and turning them on again, but I've tried to send email to my account a few times and no notifications arrive on my phone. Is it because I'm accessing my email from the website and not a client like I used to?

It has been a while since I've used MTN's mail because I just switched to using Gmail. Maybe because I've been so inactive they're not sending me any notifications now. I've made sure to keep my number active on the network. I can still make and receive calls and send and receive SMSes. Maybe MTN broke something on their end, perhaps with the whole mail server upgrade last year?

Who still uses network based emails? GMail is where the world is at....

The SMS alert for @mtnloaded.co.za is definitely still working, I use it for daily client status reports and haven't experienced any problems.
