Just wondering if anyone has successfully been able to phone an MTN store anywhere in the Western Cape?

I have tried the stores at Tyger Valley, Somerset Mall, Canal Walk, V&A Waterfront, etc, etc. They all have 083 numbers and even land line 021 numbers. No one answer, or it goes to a full mail box!

That is crazy! I've been trying for 2 days now...

Most stores must be visited in person. When I was inside my closest store I phoned it to see why no one ever answered, and only after walking around a bit while it was ringing did I hear a feint sound emanating from a back room. I asked someone why it wasn't being answered, and they set it's just a storage room and that they don't control what number gets listed on the MTN website. They looked less than interested in my suggestion as to how the situation can very quickly be remedied.

Had this problem with the Cavendish branch. Best option is to go in and get your consultant's actual cell number and email, then deal with them directly. It's a waste of time and effort trying to get them on the official store numbers.

Visit them and ask them in person.

Phone their phone while you are there to see if it rings or just gets ignored.

We should really have undercover boss in SA.

MTN stores are a joke

I walked into the one in Hyde Park looking for a sim card adapter. R49.
Whip out my credit card
"No sir, we don't take credit cards for amounts under R50"

Seriously?

The vodacom shop across the way got the sale.

Why would you pay R50 for a SIM card?

But you get the adapters in a 99c starter pack at most shops. :D

/shrug

No idea.
I just have a nano sim and a temporary requirement to put it in a phone with a micro slot. I don't know this starter pack whatwhat, there's no word for it in managementspeak.

Please report them to Mastercard for violating their merchant agreement. They either accept cards as cash or they don't.

I think they are allowed to enforce that rule, otherwise the charge is more than the item.

Do not set minimums and maximums and do not surcharge
You should not set value limits or impose a surcharge as a condition for accepting payment by Visa cards. Doing so can damage your relationship with your own customers and you may also lose new sales opportunities. Visa’s research has shown that many cardholders won’t do business with merchants who require minimum purchases on their Visa cards.

Pretty sure the charge is a percentage, not a flat fee anyway.

I very seldom carry cash. Even when I by something for R20 I pay by card. If they don't take cards they don't get my business. The only place I pay cash is motor vehicle licenses because they don't accept cards.
