MTN supply of Nokia E90?

As of Aug 17 (according to MTN in Northgate, Jhb) there is a problem with supply of the Nokia E90 (and it seems to be the same with the 6110). They say they can't supply them at all, but that they will restart once the manufacturing is sorted out.

Vodacom have the same issue, but as that post says, they will still supply what they have in stock.

Similar situation with the 6110 in this thread, but a worrying comment from snakepit:
no more navigator

Surely these are temporary issues?

Can anyone from MTN confirm whether stock has been returned to Nokia and if so why? Is there any difference between MTN's supply and Vodacom's?

And how can we find out when the supply has been sorted out ... any contacts at Nokia?

tks

I got mine 2 weeks ago when I found out whilst there for another matter that 10 came in and that the consultants had access to one each.
Got a phone call today telling me to collect one , politely told the lady calling me that I got one already after making enough noise to the right people.

Think about it realistically.... MTN launched the N95 JUST before the E90..... obviously they're waiting for some of the stupid ppl to buy their MILLIONS of N95s before they suddenly get stock of the E90

I got an E90 from MTN SP in Centurion Mall on Friday 24/08 on a ProCall 120 package for R408/m. I am however not as happy with the phone as I thought I would be ... but MTN's lack of 3G/HSDPA in my area is a major contributor to my frustrations with the device.

I've been seeing some articles about production being frozen until some faultly / substandard components and the QC process were sorted/improved.

If I were you, I'd wait for the new batches... but I'm me... so I'll wait:D

Just a question

Was there a lack of 3G/HSDPA coverage in your area before you decided to take the phone ?

Thats the biggest load of bull I've heard.... :p

This phone has the best battery life when compared with its feature combination that I've seen... WAY better than any WM device I've had.

Pitbull, you must have seen my other posts in this regard. After 15 months I still have no 3G/HSDPA in my area - an area I may add that is densely populated with high income high tech savvy people - probably all on Vodacom. Should I not get the E90 because MTN hasn't got 3G/HSDPA in my area?

BTW my phone is back at MTN after five (5) days of frustrations. When I received the phone last Friday I was told by the owner of the MTN shop in Centurion Mall that I can bring it in for a replacement if I'm unhappy with it provided it is within seven (7) days. I was unhappy so I took it back after five days. But then the seven day promise evaporated and my phone was send to Nokia for an assessment that may take two to three weeks. I'm now without a phone with the functionality I desperately need and my work suffers as a result. I tried twice today to get someone at MTN to listen to me and help me get delivery on the original promise ... but dealing with the help desk was frustrating. They twice put me through to a service centre where no phones are answered and I'm eventually cut off.

Pitbull, If you know who can help me get an E90 asap please give me a name and number. I'm really frustrated.

Yip the E61i and E90 have good battery life.

My thinking is why the hell cant they make better batteries, with the technology going into mobiles why hasnt battery life been enhanced???
