That came as a surprise to me. MTNNS and ADSL in the same sentence!?
There are some interesting things happening in telecoms at the moment, I mean look at the ADSL package price drops and this.

Am i right in guessing that this is aimed more at businesses? In any case, what are the prices? No estimates until launch i suppose.

Local Internet service providers MWEB Business and MTN Network Solutions have launched uncapped ADSL offerings – but both are aimed at business only.

MWEB Business, the division of MWEB focusing on specialised Internet for businesses, today launched its Business ADSL offering, which provides businesses with an always-on Internet connection without any traffic limitations, at a fixed monthly rate of R1 350.

The only good thing about this offer is the static IP.

I hope the SNO gets their plans together ASAP - Telkom has calculated this move to lure more people to ADSL so that the SNO will lose customers at startup.

I'm just wondering... More fire to the speculation, but what *IF* 1st of August = no more local bandwidth? What's going to happen to all these VPNs then?

more gig accounts will be required, making up for the loss in reducing the costs?

I assume everyone realised its still using a Telkom ADSL line. The headline could be a bit misleading. Sounds similar to the IS Business ADSL offering too.
