MTN to MTN airtime not working correctly on new Contracts

So I upgraded 2 of my contracts on Black Friday/Cyber Monday to a package that included Data, SMSes, Anytime minutes and MTN to MTN airtime(also referred to as On-Network).

I have now rudely discovered that when you call MTN numbers, your Anytime minutes get depleted instead of your MTN minutes.
Called the call centre to complain, and the consultant advised that this is due to a policy change on this contract. Apparently Anytime minutes must deplete first before MTN airtime starts getting used. This has not been the case with previous contracts.

Has anyone else experienced this ludicrous behaviour with their new contracts?
