Hi all

I wonder if someone here can help me, i am in the process of setting up a DVR system for one of my clients which they would like to be able to access via the interwebs..

The setup as follows:

DLink DWR512 Router
MTN Data Sim
DynDns Host name

I have set up almost everything already and when on the local network i can access the DVR web service but when connecting from any other net connected pc i get a gateway error.

I then learned that the MTN sim needs to be provisioned on the network to allow incoming connections, we phoned MTN got the sim provisioned but i am still unable to connect to this Router/DVR

Is there any specific APN settings i need to use to get access to this device?

I tried calling MTN's helpdesk but let me rather not go into that.

PS: I know someone is gonna say go ADSL or something similar. This is not an option for us, we cant get ADSL out there as its on a farm and the only mobile signal we get out there is 8ta and MTN, and the 8ta Sim wont stay connected in the router so mtn it is...

(Excuse my grammatical errors, its still early and i havent had coffee yet!)

Hi

Yes you need to add a different apn. We went trough the exact same issue but on Vodacom aslo for a dvr on a farm. You need to sign a consent form before they will give you the unrestricted apn. I don't think it would have worked if they did something on their side and you stay on the same apn. Be sure every possible security setting is enforced, you dont want some one using your connection as a spam rely or something.(Reason why the apn is restricted in the first place)

Does the client know the cost and how much he is going to be using?
I have a 8 camera system and it fills a terabyte in a month and a half through recording.
