MTN, Vodacom, Cell C weigh in on 5G in South Africa

5G promises significant benefits for consumers and businesses in South Africa, and the technology's reach in South Africa is growing.

According to Jacqui O'Sullivan, MTN's chief sustainability and corporate affairs officer, the mobile network operator now covers 25% of the population with 5G connectivity.

After deploying a cell site how long does it take to update a coverage map on a website?

FTTH has severly suppressed my appetite for 5G. I'll can live with 4G, I'll leave the 5G for smart devices.

Guys when it comes to user experience is there any noticeable difference in speed if you connect to 3.5Ghz band vs 700Mhz frequencies on Stand alone 5G
Like maybe ping will be the same but only band with high bandwidth will be faster

What are the benefits of this
More efficient...even better call quality van VoLTE (but not by much) but main thing would be your phone won't have to be connected to two different modes, one connection active on LTE so you have VoLTE for voice but also connected to 5G for data. Could have battery saving implications I would say.

Strange how everyone was using 3G for calls for so many years now using 4G and now want 5G
If there was no volte icon most people will be none the wiser
