I decided two months ago that my 100 mb bundle was not cutting it(after one month) and thought I upgraded to a 350 mb bundle, because I was told this by the kind lady on the phone.
Imagine my surprise when I found out a month later that my 100 mb bundle was in fact canceled as I had requested but my 350 mb bundle was never loaded as the kind lady said she would. She even quoted me the exact amount including the monthly subscription.
R750 later (data only) I wanted to know what I could do. Apparently, and this is where I hope this might save someone from a similar fate, you have to have the reference number of the conversation.
So, me being the idiot customer I am, I did not have this reference number and was therefore 'made love to'.
I will be canceling my contract with MTN in December and the datacard contract in just under two years. I figure that I will be taking at least ten times the amount they stole back per year. This will not cause an emergency board meeting to be held at MTN head office but it will make me feel just a little better.
