So, I have downloaded the May 2014 MTN Yello trader and have an actual copy of it. In this months offers they have the Samsung Galaxy S5 and the Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) coupled as a bundled offer. When the chap at he store called to say my upgrade is available and that I should come see them, I asked about the combo deal and what would it be on my current package and he then said it would be R960.00 per month but the deal was a mis-print and that it is only offered with a Tab 3 and not the note 10.1, my understanding with CPA is that if you advertise something you have to give that to the customer.

MTN cannot seem to get things right, and they still have not responded to my enquiry about taking this contract but with additional devices instead of the R3000.00 credit.

I was in an MTN store on Wednesday and asked about exactly the same deal only be be told that it was "an error" :erm:

Oh, and none of the stores I have phone actually answer their phones or reply to emails. So at the end of the day I have to drive out my petrol going from store to store looking for stock. Awesome service.

My wife is with Vodacom and I usually get better reception most of the time with MTN. This is the only thing putting me off moving networks.

The Voda network in your area must be over saturated.

I've noticed that MTN's stores are empty most of the time whilst Cell C and Vodacom is always buzzing. What annoys me the most about MTN is that they don't do pay-in's anymore or so I have been told by the MTN in Gateway.

I call CPA on this and they are obligated to give you what "THEY" have advertised. Cannot back track on it.
Even T&Cs can't help that crap, they have it advertised at a price and the have to honor that deal.

Generaly when a price is put on something it means that if you "offer" them that price then they will accept it...but under SA law they do not have to honour a wrong price.

Most places will however honour the wrong price for the sake of their own reputation.

Yes, but in this case its not the wrong price its a wrong deal. Now the retentions department is giving me soo much of attitude when I call them. I need to get this escalated to the CEO's office so that they know at a senior level the kind of service their retentions department is giving customers.

Yelling 'CPA!' isn't a catch-all. Retailers are given an out whereby they aren't obligated to honour obviously incorrect pricing. Save your energy.

I don't see why we should "save our energy" and just let these guys get away with this kind of service, when they would not exist without customers. The retentions dept supervisor, Excellent just told me I can't wait for them to try and sort it out by maybe Monday but other then that he cannot help me, their arrogance is also extremely disgusting. So I think I will use my energy to make a noise so that they know they cannot just treat customers they way they want.

You're conflating two issues. You're most certainly free to have a go at any business for sub-par service, but that doesn't change the fact that you can't simply demand an erroneous deal be honoured.

So what you're saying is that they can advertise false deals in order to get the traffic and not honor them because they were advertised in error?

No, what I'm saying is a distinction is made in legislation between bait marketing and obvious errors. If there's a big discrepancy in the advertised price and whatever price MTN can show to be reasonable, you'll have no grounds on which to demand they honour the deal.
