MTNDD - Account suspended after MTN migration...

Thanks to MTNDD for sorting out my previous billing problem. Now on to a more touchy subject.

MTN somehow managed to put me on to MyChioce75 however I had requested MyChoice Top Up 75. Unawares, I used my data card quite often, waiting for the R75 to run out. Eventually I tried to load a data bundle. I couldn't, so I phoned customer services and was told that I did not have a top up but in fact had a MyChoice75. This was sorted out, however in the process, I had been building up a large bill of airtime that I hadn't known about as I had thought I was on the top up.

My account has now been suspended after teaching R1000 credit limit... Not good. Certainly wasn't in my plans for this month to spend so much cash on cell charges. I though I had my R75 and that was that... I did get suspicious the moment I could not check my balance, however with the MTN USB E220, its hard to check unless you have the e620 tool, which I found out about later.

Not the nicest surprise.

If anything can be done about this I'd appreciate anyones input. It seems unfair that I must now be charged so much, I as the consumer was innocently using the service unaware that it was building up charges on a different package than the one I had applied for.

I was waiting for my "airtime" to run out, or basically until the modem had stopped connecting and then i would know to reload airtime... Of course that didn't happen.

How does innocently work into this one? i mean you say youve reached R1000 credit limit on a mychoice 75, how long do you realistically expect R75 to last?

Like I said I got suspicious of it once I realized it was not stopping.

I don't feel that being billed is unjust however MTN still made the mistake of putting me on the wrong package and are partly to blame.

They actually loaded and charged a data bundle for 350Mb which I had requested and then it was removed in the migration. There are a large amount of technicalities involved here.

Yeah it sounds a bit dodgy to me to be honest.

Constructive replies are welcome, criticisms and sly comments about my question are not.

Well, it certainly is an honest mistake as I did not know that I was not on R75 top up and I judge my usage on my actual time spent online browsing. The fact is the only reasons that the account bill is high is because,

I was unaware at the time of how the MyChoice 75 worked because to the best of my knowledge I was on the top up package.

As a new user how should I know how long R75 is going to last me?

I'm not trying to play dumb, but surely in all fairness, its not all my fault.

I did of course stop using the card, once I realized that I was being billed.

Nowhere does the MTN system tell you that you have now used your R75 on mychoice 75 to my knowledge. It is then just expected that you will continue paying after R75 is used. Which on top up is not the case.

As stated, to the best of my knowledge I was on top up and it would stop when the R75 was used.

Ok Guys enough fighting for now.

SnakePit is looking into this issue for you. I just think that the problem here is the following and that is why your being flamed.

R 1000.00 at normal rate equals 500MB. Now for a low end user that is allot of data  . for R 75 you would only get 37.5 MB.

So yes it might have been an honest mistake, however I can assure you that you'll have to pay the amount either way. U utilized the service and got the data you used. We might be able to arrange for a Payment plan or something.
