Not sure if this has been discussed before.

I am on the R149/2gig 3G contract with MTN. I have a problem where the MTNonline.exe user interface keeps on shutting down. I cannot run the software at all anymore. It only worked for around 24hours when this problem started. The initial software update when I installed the modem, E367, failed but the UI was working fine.

The next day it refused to open and I tried to do a software update via the MTN website but the link is not working. The firmware link is working though. I informed MTN about this. They explained on how to do a dial up connection in the mean time which is actually working faster that the original UI. Now I cannot monitor my data usage which is part of the reason for going the 3G route. I am running Windows7 which is probably not helping much.

Anyone else have this problem and maybe a solution?

I had the same problem on mine, just deleted the /program files/mtn f@stlink/userdata directory and it worked again.

Or try uninstalling and reinstalling it.

Thanks, I managed to sort it out. MTN rectified their links on the website and after reinstalling it around 4 times, it worked. Afterwards I also received additional instructions which should help. Here it is:

The new user interface is available for download. Please advise the clients that are getting the error on MTN online to perform the below steps.

1. Download the MTN user interface update on the MTN website. http://www.mtn.co.za/Support/DeviceDownloads/Pages/default.aspx

2. Uninstall the MTN online

3. Connect the modem without the sim card the run the update

4. After completing the update, restart the machine

5. Install the software

Hi.

What you need to do is the following.

Uninstall the MTN Online software, make sure the modem is not plugged in.

After uninstalling the software, go to Computer> Local Disk C:> Program files, and delete all the folders conataing MTN (MTN Online, MTN F@stlink).

After deleting the folders, plugin your modem and let the setup run.

This should solve your problem.

Also check your Windows Update that it is not set to Automatic download and install updates, as the Security updates causes the program to crash.
