@Andre, looked at frogfoot's coverage map they seem to be doing patches in lakeside and Costa da gama
https://www.frogfootfibre.com/frogfoot/myaccount/home/frogfoot/coverage.jsp
Ok, just checked the map and I'm some distance away from the Frogfoot areas.

We had an Octotel notice attached to the front gate of our complex as well.

The Octotel map shows my address as being in the trenching stage and their Facebook group rep gives an estimate of mid May to mid June for fibre to be live at my address.

We moving out of here the end of the year so I don't know if we're even going to get the benefit of using the fibre unless the house we move into already has a fibre connection.

Hi
Rue Lunarto Octotel - Southern Peninsula Fibre
posted the following on facebook yesterday. Hope its usefull info :)

"Good day everyone. My most sincere apologies for the silence over the past week or so. It has not been intentional. Quick update on the Lakeside rollout. We will taking the network live by the 30th of April. We're now just awaiting our backhaul to get powered up, and we expect that it will be done any day now. We have started scheduling installations, some of you may have already been contacted by our project coordinators in this regard. The installation teams will start from the Klein Wassenaar area tomorrow, and work their way down through the rest of Lakeside. Installations are, therefore, being scheduled in this order. We ask that you kindly bear with us as we go through the backlog, we will get to you soon. Our sincere apologies once again that you have had to endure a long wait. We can assure you that your network has been built to superior standard and you will most definitely appreciate that it has been well worth the wait. Thank you Lakeside for your patience and support throughout this rollout initiative. date on the Lakeside rollout. We will taking the network live by the 30th of April. Saw this on the page , but I think im going to adopt a wait and see approach. Let the other lakeside residents be the guinea pigs. The octotel Southern suburbs network is still in a shocking state , lets hope the Southern peninsula implementation is better.

Same here.

I may even consider upgrading my ADSL to a faster speed if the Lakeside people report poor speeds.

In another post on the Facebook Octotel group the ETA for Muizenberg is now end of June.

I think some of us are talking in both the Facebook group and in this thread.

I have checked the fibre CPE boxes and none of them contain any cables at all, seems like this is a f#ck up already.

The impression I've been given from people I've spoken to is that no fibre gets floated until all of the trenching is complete.

Lakeside is running behind schedule and we're being held up because of that apparently.

I'd suggest against using rain.co.za unless you're willing to wait until 2am in the morning to download your stuff. It seems to be massively over-subscribed in our area.

You don't experience any slowdown from around 9am?

At around 3pm rain is at <2mbit/s for me. On weekends it's completely unusable.

Seems fibre is not all it was promised to be.....
Unsightly wires everywhere
Skew poles everywhere
Breakages
Slow
Pavement damage
Suppliers going bangkrot
I'm more than happy with my fast MTN Lte contract thanks, now into my 5th month without even a millisecond stutter !!!
And with roll overs etc I have more gigawhatevers to last a lifetime !!!
