DMX and radio will be in a separate bouquet. Certain channels will move from their current position in the premium bouquet to a new Specialist bouquet including foreign language channels.

What this means, is that they might be charging people to get the DMX channels, and any of the other "new" bouquet's.

o - so nothing new then.
Was also hoping to be able to choose the channel I want.

Says Aletta Alberts MultiChoice’s GM Content “ We are excited about the shuffle because it will make for a better user experience and allow us to continue to introduce world – class channels in the correct genre categorie

Better user experience? huh? Having to push an extra button is "better"?

Why start at 100? Is their technology so buggered that they can't use 1-99?

/me waits for SABC to renumber to 1000+, as that will then be 10 times better than DSTV....

IMHO It's actually rather a question of the ease of the user interface, once you go to 3 digits per channel then the user must key in 3 digits for all channels, otherwise is it channel 10 he wants or should I hang around in case he means to type channel 100, or should he have to key 010 to be sure? It's way easier to start at 100. Much less confusing to the user (and less complex to implement).

OTOH It's also consistent with other countries who have analogue channels at 1-99 and digital channels 100+ (useful when TV's incorporate both technologies) .

I quite agree, Multichoice does not deserve any accolades at present. The only good thing they've done of late is the introduction of subtitles.

My current beef with them is their refusal to offer M-Net only on DSTV. I have an analogue decoder, but I want to watch programs on M-Net with subtitles. So I need to use the DSTV decoder for that. But you cannot get a M-Net only subscription on DSTV - you have to take the whole DSTV package. Never mind the fact that DSTV is generally rubbish, I don't have any interest in the DSTV bundle.

Multichoice gave some weak excuse that they don't have the technical capability to stream M-Net only on DSTV, which is patently untrue. Otherwise how are they able to selectively disable M-Net if you opt for DSTV only?

I love how they phrase this: "We are excited about the shuffle because it will make for a better user experience and allow us to continue to introduce world – class channels in the correct genre categories"

Translation: "We are excited about removing content from the bundle and charging extra from them because it will make for a better user experience (for us) when we shaft them harder"

Bleh.

Having to enter 101 for M-Net where I used to enter 3 sure as hell does not seam easier to me.

johan: yeah - I have a page or 2 of scheduled stuff to record on my PVR - I imagine it SHOULD manage the channel shifts .. but I seriously doubt it. Guess I'll have to revert to pen and paper to write everything down, then spend an hour figuring out where the channels went to , then setup everything again *sigh*

Damn .. getting their crappy remote to work just pressing 3 was hard enough, now they want us to press 3 numbers on that crappy remote. BWAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I still don't understand how it is that my amp remote I can point just about anywhere and it still works, but, point the DSTV remote 1mm out of line with the receiver, and the decoder does not pick up the signal.

You have to press the button so hard to get it to work that your pressing action moves the remote, and therefore the decoder will not get the signal.

OH .. DUH ... they're going to start selling new - improved remotes ... BWAAAHAHAHAHAHA

Probably something to do with making it more difficult to pirate, or some other bs story.
