IMO it sounds like DSTV & MonoChoice are trying to con potential new customers into thinking that DSTV has 510 different channels.

In case anyone from MonoChoice is listening, DSTV is exorbitantly priced and is mostly filled with crap that is repeated over and over again. Lower your prices drastically and allow people to create their own personal bouquet of channels for a price that is reasonable, or lose customers when competition arrives. Mock our words at your own peril MonoChoice.

Why is everyone having a bitch?

They have to move to three digit, 1 - 99 is almost full, look at the news and music genres, no more space. Very simple actually.

The problem is people are unable to all just gang together.
If everyone (that is EVERYONE) cancelled DSTV and refused to resubscribe until decent quality shows were broadcast at acceptable rates, DSTV would buckle in.

Not likely to happen, is it?

I remember the last time they did this... caused havoc and chaos with ppl who had gotten to know the channel numbers.

Does look like they're making space for a few new channels with the way the numbers have been arranged though, which could be a good thing.

I've said it once and I'll say it again. DSTV offers most value to people who are interested in a cross-section of sports.

Likely making super profits

MultiChoice has experienced a tremendous growth
So how come the subscription keeps on increasing? It should have come down over time.

I'd personally rather have the channels arranged in the new way. It's pretty annoying having random channels all over the place at the moment. I mean Go is in the most random place of all...

More spin from monochoice garbage.

Why can't I select my own channel numbers and group my channels the way I want them? - It used to be possible.

PVR Schedule

The PVR Schedule should be fine. I am nearly 100% sure the changes were made to smoothly upgrade from the one channel number system to the next (The actual numbers matter very little to the decoder, the channel identifiers are still the same, just the channel mapping is different so the schedule should still be okay). I say should because well, things seem to always work on the multitude of tests you do and then in a small number of cases for some reason it doesn't work :(. Joys of software :p

People dont like change.. Deal with it, if you dont like the change then go watch sabc and save yourself money.

They obuestly have plans in the future to introduce many more channels and this is need to accomadate it..

I emailed DSTV broadband and they said that they will be open to the public at the begining of october. They have some nice stuff on the site, of course its all content that has aired. But i would like to get Survivor and Carte Blanche etc..

I think that they are bring out some good new things.. Just updating there system now which was proberbly needed. I have no problem with it. :)

Will I be able to find the SABC channels after the re-shuffle of existing channel numbers...

If this channel number shuffle is required to introduce new channels, then when are the new channels going to be available??? - let me guess - only when MonoChoice has some serious competition to deal with...

three numbers to enter now? hmm, my decoder crashes once a day already :(

IMHO It's actually rather a question of the ease of the user interface, once you go to 3 digits per channel then the user must key in 3 digits for all channels, otherwise is it channel 10 he wants or should I hang around in case he means to type channel 100, or should he have to key 010 to be sure? It's way easier to start at 100. Much less confusing to the user (and less complex to implement).

OTOH It's also consistent with other countries who have analogue channels at 1-99 and digital channels 100+ (useful when TV's incorporate both technologies) .

Having to enter 101 for M-Net where I used to enter 3 sure as hell does not seam easier to me.

why do you guys input numbers to go to channels?
just use your directional keys on rc and choose the ch;)

Damn .. getting their crappy remote to work just pressing 3 was hard enough, now they want us to press 3 numbers on that crappy remote. BWAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I still don't understand how it is that my amp remote I can point just about anywhere and it still works, but, point the DSTV remote 1mm out of line with the receiver, and the decoder does not pick up the signal.

You have to press the button so hard to get it to work that your pressing action moves the remote, and therefore the decoder will not get the signal.

OH .. DUH ... they're going to start selling new - improved remotes ... BWAAAHAHAHAHAHA

your rc batterys are flattery:D
