This thread is about the channel number changes… And the numbering is a mix-up in terms of genres. They have to reshuffle because 70 odd channels need to be spread out.

DSTV has a lot of competition. For lifestyle programs SABC is there. For movies you can go out and rent. Series are available within a couple of weeks after the US broadcast (and available for download). The only area where DSTV has a stronghold is sport. And you can watch most of the T20 cricket and WC rugby on SABC…

However, I hope that competition will lower rates or increase premium content.

Does anyone know how DSTV’s rates compare with overseas pay TV?

why do you guys input numbers to go to channels?
just use your directional keys on rc and choose the ch;)
If you want to go from Mnet to The Discovery Channel its much quicker entering the number.

Also that way I dont have to skip past the Big Brother channel and hope the missus didnt notice.

So this reshuffle will cause me to loose all the programs I programmed to record on time base recordings on my PVR or can I just edit the channel numbers :-(((

I dont think you will loose TBRs, but you may have to change the channel no. in the TBR settings.
But maybe the programmers thought about that and inserted a fix for it

Damn .. getting their crappy remote to work just pressing 3 was hard enough, now they want us to press 3 numbers on that crappy remote. BWAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I still don't understand how it is that my amp remote I can point just about anywhere and it still works, but, point the DSTV remote 1mm out of line with the receiver, and the decoder does not pick up the signal.

You have to press the button so hard to get it to work that your pressing action moves the remote, and therefore the decoder will not get the signal.

OH .. DUH ... they're going to start selling new - improved remotes ... BWAAAHAHAHAHAHA

I have the exact same problem..........very poor remote.....

I have to agree, I only have DStv for the sport in particular for the live F1. I've seen all Mythbusters, Lockdown, 48 hours from the repeats....not to mention "World's most dangerous car chases"....

DStv is really very, very expensive. They have also snubbed the rest of Africa from the English premier league. Now the guys in Namibia, Botswana, etc. only get to watch 2 EPL games per week, however, they pay the same subscription.....what a rip-off......and Multichoice does nothing for their customers...

Not even Chuck Norris can save eTV...

... or any other (present or future) channel competing with DSTV.

I suspect once you have insight into the South African business conditions and the industry, you'll realise that this just can't be done cheaper and still make decent money.
