MultiChoice CEO Calvo Mawela's R43-million payday

MultiChoice Group CEO Calvo Mawela received a total pay package of $2,578,000, or around R43.2 million at current exchange rates, during the company’s last financial year.

Mawela is based in Dubai — hence his salary being denominated in US dollars.

No wonder they charge us this high ripoff subscription rates for useless endless repeats. It is to pay these useless fat cats such rediculous salaries and bonusses that they certainly do not deserve. Must be true heaven to be a fat cat millionare in first month that you work for Multichoice. DSTV MUST FALL!!

Let's not be hasty now, the football season is about to start.

...4 years of talking about a streaming service and still nothing. More moans about streaming companies like Disney+ and Netflix, and nothing has been done about it.
Sounds like pure success!

Quite honestly his pay is on the lower end of the spectrum for a multinational media company.

Take the Comcast CEO with its Sky subsidiary in Europe with his almost $34m/year pay:

As far as I remember form my capitalistic market handbook a company is free to pay its CEO and its staff wherever it seems justifiable for said employee and for the value said employee provides to the company.

do not deserve
Says who? You? As far as the shareholders and management are concerned MultiChoice is still raking in money from their business activities and can easily justify this all well as all other salaries. All good.

They will keep on doing it as long as the stupid is paying for it.

Any tax on that Calvo? Or now a tax emigrant in Dubai.
While complaining about netflix not paying "tax"...

Lmao.........must be for all the repeats. Good job!

Ah yes, the old crony capitalism handbook.

It's strange that the company CEO isn't based at the company's HQ. Even more odd that the both of them are based in a country where they don't actually operate. The chairman likely doesn't want to live in Africa but the CEO just went because it's nicer than than here. Terrible governance.
