MultiChoice upbeat about future prospects

MultiChoice CEO Calvo Mawela said they are making good progress to strengthen their balance sheet and make Showmax profitable.

Mawela's comments came after MultiChoice released its consolidated interim financial statements for the period ending 30 September 2024.

I can see DSTV downgrading to a Sports Only package while they strengthen Showmax to be a Movie/Series package only
Their average revenue per customer was quoted in an earlier article at around R290 if memory serves. They could simplify their bouquets and make bank.

I've been saying this for years.

They got caught sleeping by the streaming services and now sports are the only card they have to really play, so they may as well become South Africa's ESPN.

Could even do what ESPN and Disney do, partner up with other streaming services as an add-on.

Consider the recent article where it was noted how little they pay for sports rights compared to their total content. Yet they bleed subscribers by overcharging for sports.

Upbeat, we'll see.
