MultiChoice executive salaries and DStv Premium prices – the inconvenient truth

MultiChoice recently released the remuneration packages of its top executives for the year ending 31 March 2019 as part of the company’s pre-listing statement.

MultiChoice chairman Imtiaz Patel will be paid R22.1 million, while the company’s CEO Calvo Mawela will receive a pay package of R7.7 million.

We've been through this many times, even with MC. Comparing buying power Dstv is much more expensive and roundabout on par if you take all the sport. Then with Sky you even get broadband thrown into the mix. There's just no comparison.

What would you have done sherlock?

Simply making the currency conversion does not show the real value of these salaries. Care must be taken as to analyse the value of that salary in the country of origin not converting it to make a point in a different country. For this kind of comparison we should not take currency to mind at all, but compare the numbers as they are cause these salaries are only comperative to their country of origin.
