MultiChoice is hiring someone to go after online pirates

MIH is gonna kick some SA pirate AS$

And let's not forget that they consider foreign streaming sites that too... so boys and girls NF and Hulu users, beware..... ! MUHAHAHAHA!

looks like they are now really feeling the blow online streaming have on there wallets

if they make it cheaper more people will get dstv and will make more money

100 people at R700pm = R70 000 mp

500 people at R400pm = R200 000 mp

also with the extra 400 they will sell more decoders etc giving them even more money

its not like more users will add more strain on there network

now they raise the price, people leave MC,then they just raise it to cover for the loss, instead of fixing the problem the dam high price...

greedy > logic

as 700 per sub sounds like it can give more money but you have to look at the bigger picture

The Genie is Out The Bottle.

Those that have left aren't coming back. It's faster/easier/no ads/more choice/more languages online.

Adapt or die.

Good luck to them. They are clearly running scared and are out of their depth.

But I'd avoid using a torrent client on my PC. Rather use a vpn, seedbox, nzbs or Unotelly (e.g. Rugby world cup on ITV).

Going to be interesting on how they identify receiving streamers cause they would need to get concrete proof from the ISP. Which the ISP shouldn't give up any info without a court order.

Testifying in court in accordance with any statement submitted

Wouldn't want to be this guy once his identity is known.

You cant use nzb, they are targeting nzb users. They are also people use netflix, hulu etc.

Doesnt Dstv need local ISPs to disclose client data in order to target people?

Would they dare go after their client base?

the irony...a guy with an MWEB + DSTV subscription getting pulled into court for downloading a TV episode.

The problem Multichoice is going to have is that prosecuting downloading is very expensive \ often unsuccessful when compared to prosecuting distribution. And in the South African context, there aren't any distributors...all the content is offshore.
