Didn't they learn from the last company to be held hostage by the tax authorities? MTN?

Oh it's MultiChoice...my heart beats lumpy custard for them.

Maybe they will have to raise the prices again, if they just drop the crap they show, they will free up more satellite bandwidth, and broadcast in proper quality, stuff that subscribers will pay for.

Nigerian government are serials at this. Crude oil prices down from 2012 and their inability to collect taxes means they are desperate.

R33 billion

That's some shakedown given that they didn't even make that number in Revenue in 2020

With a revenue of around 27bn and profit of around 2.7bn I'd like to see how they expect a 'fine' like that to be paid.

Bwahahaha... Least we know roughly what the hole in Nigerias budget is..

Do business in dodgy countries, then pay their dodgy taxes...
They wanted those millions of nigerians money.. now nigeria government wants their cut.

edit: I wonder.. MC paid the bribes (normal africa tax) to get in there ... did the government get greedy ?
