MultiChoice ramping up fight against DStv piracy

According to the CEO yesterday they showed 34,400 odd live sport events which then means they doing well. WHY ARE THEY THEN COMPLAINING? Never knew a service provider could show that many events in 1 year.

Because half of those events are inferior because they are streamed illegally!

Trying to protect their Super Sport revenue, because all their other content is available via other sources and in better quality

Surely in 2025 the default that DSTV broadcasts and streams in is HD 1080?

No still 360p 😋

Why would anyone pay for something broadcast in anything less than 1080p, let alone 360p?

If Frikkadel wanted to know why some people prefer pirated content, inferior DSTV potato quality is likely a big reason (apart from high pricing).

I still think the reason is pricing. Are people really pirating because of quality?

Well not sure - but I have watched some NZ Sky games at 1080p 50 FPS, and once you have seen it - one cannot unsee it. And that made me realise, just how bad DSTV quality is.

Best quality I have seen was 1080 60 FPS Canadian stream, but those as I understand it are very scarce.

Price is a big factor, but not the only one for many people.
