MultiChoice rebuffs Canal+'s advances

Canal is pretty much saying we can run it better that the current board, here is a premium on the share now go play somewhere else.
It is a default answer from a board to say our shares are undervalued, but why have then not been able to extract perceived value?

Agreed, I'm pretty sure that anyone could run it better, as MCG has dropped quite a bit since naspers left them.

Pity, I was looking forward to a descent decoder, one with programmable features, a real slow-mo, etc., not this junk which is worse after every "improvement".

Suffice to say Monochoice deserve to have the Ellies treatment. They are in absolutely no posiiton to turn down an offer like this.

Entertainment industry, seem to ignore the market, push on with dumb ideas, ramp up pricing in the face of declining subscriptions, an option or two to get out or in to other markets that are brushed off, etc.
seem to ignore the market: The mobile only package is the start of something.

push on with dumb ideas: Example?

an option or two to get out or in to other markets that are brushed off, etc. : In what sense, like this Canal+ proposal? Or selling other products?

These are obviously largely my opinion as

Market: For years the market has repeatedly said that more focused packages instead of all-in-one-at-a-high-cost is what it wants. Sure there are packages like Compact but the last I looked which was admittedly years ago they didn't have much of value. This is also simplified, not all channels cost the same, a Sports only package may cost a massive amount compared to News only.

Dumb Ideas: Reduce concurrent streams to one from I think it was four, I don't know a single person who when they couldn't 'share' a stream with a subscriber, went and signed up for DSTv. I don't know what the actual numbers were like but I would assume that the total numbers watching DSTv and being subjected to adverts, dropped once the change was made.

Options: I was probably stretching this Canal+ one a bit admittedly, it's not as clear cut as Blockbuster being offered to buy Netflix or Redbox, as an example.
