The man taking over MultiChoice South Africa

Byron du Plessis officially took over as CEO of MultiChoice South Africa on 1 December 2024 after Marc Jury announced his resignation two weeks earlier.

Jury is staying on at the company until 31 March 2025 for a four-month handover period to Du Plessis.

TIL MultiChoice CEO and MultiChoice Group CEO are two different positions.

Multichoice is facing huge challenges. With all respect to this individual who seems eminently qualified in the financial field, they don't need an accountant, they need a visionary leader. You can always hire good accountants which may seem like a safe bet, but it isn't really if what you really need is a strategic leader with a vision who can pivot and re-energize a rapidly fossilising business. instead of playing advanced financial games with a balance sheet.

I would say they need to get rid of dinosaurs and bunts like Frikkie first

My limited understanding is that there are two ways to increase revenue:

1. Increase prices
2. Increase subscriptions

Monochoice is determine to succeed with 1 only.

2. Is where they should focus on. Not sure how they going to get that right.

... after which time, he'll have to go in front of the Board and show he's proficient in handling this contraption including changing the batteries.

We will be looking forward as to how Byron du Plessis manage MultiChoice after Marc Jury’s tenure of the company. There should be a handover period that should ease the process of transition. Sure some hope that the company will prosper and be refined under his reign!
