MultiChoice to launch DStv with uncapped Internet in South Africa

MultiChoice has announced the launch of a standalone DStv streaming service, which will allow customers to sign up for DStv and stream content exclusively through its online platform.

This will be accessible through the DStv app, which is available for a number of platforms – including smart TV, browser, mobile phone, and gaming console.

“DStv now offers the option to sign up with Africa’s leader in video entertainment, online, and enjoy the best of DStv, instantly, on a host of connected devices, for ultimate flexibility,” the company said.

The devil is in the detail. Expect Netflix, Amazon Prime and other video streaming services to heavily shaped by these DSTV packages

Seems that DSTV has come out guns blazing given all the coverage and info from them today. Nothing new but still. 3 articles in one day back to back is impressive

Launching new streaming services, decoders and subs whilst the economy is contracting is a brilliant move indeed.

They want every cent you have and are ready to fight you for it.

I think if they have launched a sports only package it would have been a bad move. I'd give it to them, it took them ages, but they seem to be waking up at least.

This type of setup have been common overseas for a very long time.

My old ASUS xDSL router has this option for a completely seperate connection that is exclusively utilized for IPTV that is unmetered.

This is not how it is going to be handled in SA though.

This should have been offered ages ago. MC finally waking up the the market reality it seems.

and every article show how completely out of touch they are

It'll probably cost as much as it's satellite counterparts given how they're pricing showmax pro.

  • remove channels
  • add channels
  • ShowMax Sport
  • DSTV Communities
  • New decoder
  • Bundling Netflix etc
  • Bundle with fibre package
Looks like a desperate duck, quacks like a desperate duck...
