I think only Telkom are pushing IPTV so it won't matter to Multichoice whether the decoder supports it, they might actively avoid one that does.

Chances are that they will:

"According to Telkom Media, it is run as a completely separate business from Telkom, and Multichoice said that they are interested to see if they will get the same access as Telkom Media to the ADSL network for IPTV offerings if they ask for it."

Wont be surprised if these decoders will have to be interoperable between the different pay-TV licence holders, i.e. instead of having 5 decoders for each pay-tv provider, having only 1 decoder with space to insert one of the "smart cards" from a pay-tv provider. I guess that would be one of ICASA's stipulations. And Multichoice will have to abide.

Interesting times ahead!
