MultiChoice wants R38 million for Springbok World Cup matches

They failed to show the current cricket series as well. Why they expect people to pay them when they failing the people is a mystery...

This says it all.

The SABC’s insistence that it cannot afford to pay R38 million to broadcast this year’s matches live comes after it reportedly paid R70 million for former CEO Madoda Mxakwe’s trip to the 2022 Fifa World Cup in Qatar.

The fact that they spent nearly double to send their former CEO to the 2022 Fifa World Cup shouldn't mean that they should therefore pay R38 million for Rugby World Cup rights. If they cannot recover the R38 million, then they must not do it.

The fact that they spent R70 million to send their former CEO to the 2022 Fifa World Cup is simply the reason nobody is willing to pay their TV licence anymore. Someone should be made to answer for that and as usual, nobody will ever be held accountable.

Just as they can justify their financial reasoning to decline the R38 million Rugby World Cup offer, so too they must justify the financial reasons for spending R70 million for a 'business trip'. In the private sector, it would obviously not fly.. In the world of the ANC it would be a wasted opportunity not to enjoy a once in a lifetime free luxury Fifa World Cup trip..

I'm also interested what R70m gets you, cause tourism seems to have gotten a little pricier than I remember...
Yea I feel like inflation has hit travel particularly hard. Maybe he took a private plane and a private for each of his entourage and one for each of his bags. Or he stayed at the royal palace.

Well now that its in the public domain sabc will most likely get the rights

70 million! Did he fly there in a solid gold plane?
Probably VIP everything for the whole month plus all games. It’s not that bonkers in the context of vip experience sporting events but in the context of a struggling public broadcaster and country it’s terrible.
