The value proposition does not exist anymore. It hasn't for some time.
Maybe even SuperSport isn't enough.

No, Supersport is not enough. Support for local sport, including Rugby has declined. Many people could not give 2 f**cks about the Springboks, Proteas and the likes. As for international sports, there are cheaper options available in IPTV services.

They f**cked over their client base over the years. The honeypot was eventually going to be dried up. They should have known it.

@Pegasus will be along shortly to explain why Multichoice shouldn't be using "high school accounting" :whistling:
Sure, I’ll be happy to do that after your presentation on how Twitter and Multichoice have the exact same business model, capital structure and operate in the same business environment.

Lose touch with your customer, don't keep up with market trends, keep increasing prices unreasonably and then cry foul! No sympathy from me. Karma is a bitch and sometimes to long to come around!

I reckon its time to make SuperSport a standalone streaming service for R250pm. Cut the rest. Never ever going to beat Amazon, Netflix, AppleTV, (Who Else?) for content.

You do know the 900 is mostly because of SS right? The sports bodies charge a fortune

Well, they are now in a conundrum, how do they balance retention and ARPU.

Basically what I think as well.

Just looking around me, most of my friends and family were keen Rugby and Cricket supporters, and everyone had DSTV. No-one would schedule an event or party if it clashed with an important game. Wedding dates were planned around the springbok schedule.

These days no one even knows when a game is on. I only realized yesterday there was a 20-20 world cup on the go, and apparently we lost. Covid and BLM accelerated this trend. People suddenly had better things to do than watch millionaires in shorts kneel and run after a ball.

Indeed we are told or lead to believe. Im not convinced this is 100% accurate. Shareholders also want returns. If MC really wanted to innovate and compete I think they would have done things differently. They just trying to hold onto the rope before it runs out.

They must make more Streamas. That will get them out of this difficulty.
Oh and kill the DStv app off all app stores so people MUST buy Steamas!
Winning. Corporate hi-fives all around the boardroom.

Well, looks like the market is going to make those hard decisions for them if the current trend continues.

I miss sport. I do not miss adverts or scheduled TV.

Remember the arrogance of BlackBerry over BBM before Whatsapp ate their lunch? Same with DSTV.

They wanted us to pay for ALL the things while we just wanted to watch the Rugby, Cricket and some news.

They should have had subscription bundles long time ago where you could choose your channels. e.g. a First Five bundle for e.g R350 (Choose any 5 channels you want), then a Second Five bundle for R150 (Choose any 5 channels more).

That way I would still have been a subscriber. Now I get my series on Netflix and Prime Video, and news and sport on IPTV.
