Multiple arrests in twin MultiChoice and Hawks anti-piracy raids

Small “victories” count mos.
For me - Small or even large victories such as this won't translate necessarily into revenue for Multichoice.

People are making an active decision to bypass Multichoice for whatever reason and that won't change even if Multichoice makes it harder for them.

People using these devices are those who either cannot afford multichoice or those who can but simply won't because they see no value in the current offering from Multichoice or simply don't want to pay for the most premium bouquet to watch sport.

I also think that Multichoice threatening pirates and users of these services doesn't do anything but alienate them further.

IMO - correct me if I am wong -

Arrests and News like this ... will just make more people move away from DSTV.

Hopefully for their sake they'll realise demand is there for their product. Will they see their pricing as a problem, or think they can turn pirates into payers at the current rates?

The fact they've gone again down the "pirates will steal your credit card" and "you could land up in jail thing" for the umpteenth time suggests not. It's hilarious that they're unintentionally suggesting that consumers are willing to put themselves at the risk of both criminals and Multichoice themselves rather than simply sign up to DStv.

Well done Frikkie. Meanwhile, your (endlessly) faulty software has got many of your browser streamers still struggling to get a connection, 4 days after it collapsed.

Well done my man.

BTW, who's gonna pay for all that lost product?
Frikkie is not concerned with browser streamers. His primary goal is to thwart those pesky pirates.

Probably more like they haven't been able to figure out how to convince SAPS that "unauthorized URLs" are up there with unauthorized devices and unauthorized apps.

Agreed

Nah!!

They don't care if you pirate their streams, as long as you don't pirate their streams and make R5.00, as a result. Then they come after you with a vengeance.

I remember a while back one conviction was a fine and suspended sentence. I am sure the guy actually turned a profit even considering the fine.

The irony, if DStv spent half the amount they did hunting down pirates on R&D they could probably have figured out a way to prevent stream hijacking and pirating. Oh, wait, R&D in Africa is a please call me.

How do these devices look like and where are they generally sold, I would like to avoid such devices and places.

My guess, is the same as most people use for DSTV, Netflix, Disney +, etc.

Only thing is, some one pre-loads - Apps, that give free stuff, along with Kodi with pre-loaded dodgy addons/plug-ins.

Seems a lot of people are unable to load these themselves, so some one charges them to load/install these these foggy apps, and dodgy addons/plug-ins, into Kodi for them.

Frikkie disapproves, of some one helping Plebs to access and use these dodgy apps. He is doing his best to protect the moral fiber of the nation.

In a previous life, he was a Verkrampte NG Dominee.

Haha yes I'm a pirate. although I have no decoder and no satellite dish....and not DSTV hahaha

But Argh
