I guess it comes down to opinions on his state of mind.

Had the US had very strict gunlaws that literally forbid all weapons other than say handguns, shotguns and hunting rifles. How far was he willing to go to pursue some assault weapon through difficult and highly illegal means.

Stricter laws would certainly make it more difficult and perhaps deter him enough to resort to another means, which is far less efficient, than an assault rifle with unlimited magazine sizes.

They don't even need strict gun laws all they need is common sense gun laws.

getting a bit rough. jissie.

allow all gun owners to carry their guns around with them, or is it like so already.

I always see the reasoning, its for protection, but only ever see the crazy gunman shooting everyone. never people protection themselves.

would be great if some lunatic just got perforated by the public as soon as they attempt this.

Automatic weapons (like the one in this incident) are illegal.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Title_II_weapons#Machine_guns

From your source -

The ownership of Title II weapons is not illegal, but is heavily regulated at both the State and Federal level.

And what does Nevada say -

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_laws_in_the_United_States_by_state#Nevada

Assault weapons are legal and NFA (weapons you linked in your source) weapons are allowed.

So not sure where it says it is illegal?

remember making more or stricter laws for people that don't follow the law, is pointless. it only affects those sticking to the law.

The shooter was on a high vantage point, no way a person with a handgun would have hit him.

Lunatics do get stopped by citizens, it just doesn't make the news because nothing happens.
A robber armed with an AK-47 assault weapon stormed a Texas Waffle House, only to be shot by a pistol-packing customer, police say.

The suspect, whose identity police are still trying to confirm, was in critical condition Monday after last week’s gun battle in a Dallas suburb.

Police say the suspect, believed to be 25 or 26 years old, entered the DeSoto restaurant and robbed the customers and business around 2:30 a.m. Thursday.

Hardly...

He would have found the weapon he wanted with the mag he wanted anyway...

Dude can buy a AR15 legally, then order a $99,00 bump stock, which actually comes with an ATF document saying that the stock is 100% legal... and turn a semi-automatic rifle into a full auto weapon in the time it takes to replace the stock. All legal and by the book.

Exactly my point is that having such weaponry easily accessible is what makes incidents like this potentially worse.

TIL - and they aren't even subtle about advertising their purpose...:wtf:

Guys, can we stick away from the gun control arguments for the moment so we don't have to wade through a hundred posts just to get more info on the shooting.

How fast 30 rounds go on an AR-15. That was about 3 seconds, his bursts were about 10.

We're deferring from the topic but I'll just say this:
In SA it's illegal to own an automatic rifle, yet we have perps attacking people with AK47s and R5 rifles... Making something illegal doesn't remove it, it makes getting it harder ;)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_laws_in_the_United_States_by_state#Nevada

So not sure where it says it is illegal?
NRS 202.350  Manufacture, importation, possession or use of dangerous weapon or silencer; carrying concealed weapon without permit; penalties; issuance of permit to carry concealed weapon; exceptions.
1.  Except as otherwise provided in this section and NRS 202.3653 to 202.369, inclusive, a person within this State shall not:
(a) Manufacture or cause to be manufactured, or import into the State, or keep, offer or expose for sale, or give, lend or possess any instrument or weapon of the kind commonly known as a blackjack, slungshot, billy, sand-club, sandbag or metal knuckles;
(b) Manufacture or cause to be manufactured, or import into the State, or keep, offer or expose for sale, or give, lend, possess or use a machine gun or a silencer, unless authorized by federal law;
https://www.leg.state.nv.us/NRS/NRS-202.html#NRS202Sec369

Which means they have to follow NFA law:
All NFA items must be registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Private owners wishing to purchase an NFA item must obtain approval from the ATF, pass an extensive background check to include submitting a photograph and fingerprints, fully register the firearm, receive ATF written permission before moving the firearm across state lines, and pay a tax.[21] The request to transfer ownership of an NFA item is made on an ATF Form 4.

I stand corrected, it is heavily regulated.

Cute. Now with a 100 round drum mag.

The modding potential of this specific gun is insane.
