Electricity price increases kick in

South African residents can expect to pay between R245 and R333 more per month on electricity from today, 1 July 2025, depending on the city in which they live.

While electricity price hikes for Eskom direct customers started on 1 April 2025, municipal electricity price hikes take effect each year on 1 July 2025.

Yup even less credits today :-( my upgrading is looking more and more like a good thing.

Well these degenerates that think they know how to run a country need to steal harder so one way is to increase the price of electricity/water/petrol etc.

we always buy R1500 worth. we get 436 units each month.
This morning I bought R1500, and I got 444 units.... no idea why that is.

Same here, on City of Cape Town prepaid. Usually get 291 units for R1000, got 296 units this morning instead. Strange but I'm not complaining. :)

They will "fix" that mistake shortly.

Check what is your connection and other electricity related charges from now on.
I think they increased them by R100

Still the same this month, paid my CoCT municipal account this morning, still R245 for the "Elec HU service & wires charge", no change. Will have to wait until next month to see whether they change anything.

COE is pulling a COJ, on prepaid, tariff a , got changed to a1 , and now pay a monthly service fee of R141.46

COE with the second highest hike while our POS substation, which is brand new, kills itself at least once a week.

Same here.

I just bought 2 x 1000 vouchers via Clicks.

I forgot that many folks only get their shafting from today. Apr 1 was when the rest of us were put up against the wall.

CoCT lowered their rate per unit from R 3.44 to R 3.38 as of July - this for the first 600 units.

Over 600 units for the month and it went from R 4.75 per unit to R 4.42 .

However the monthly Home User Tariff went up from R 281.78 to R 390.87 .

And they slapped on a new "cleaning" levy. And they changed water, refuse and sanitation cost to be based on property value. And then the DA goes around with their new slogan: "Fighting for a lower cost of living". DA voters are just as gullible as ANC voters.
