Municipalities are holding South Africa back on smart energy

Glad somebody is finally noticing.

Municipalities make so much money from electricity that it is in their interests to hold us back, very bad conflict of interest, this vested interest they have should be taken away from them. If they need money they must get it from rates not electricity.

I agree.
If your property is worth less than R500,000 you pay no rates and all the other rich people must subsidize the poor people. :whistling:

At least with electricity nearly everyone contributes. With rates it's easy to screw the middle class over and make them pay for everything.

Or the municipalities could just stop paying the crazy salaries they pay and hiring people they dont need?
The more I think about how simple the logic is the more I realize this country is utterly stuffed.
