Like Elon explained on the previously linked podcast with Lex - it's a bit silly to call for example a 3 hour video on X a "tweet".
140 characters on day one was a short tweet yes, but X has for a long time moved far away from the restricted posts aka tweets, so the name didn't fit the app anymore as it evolved.

Renaming twitter to X and changing "tweet" to "a post on X" is kinda like if Ziploc renamed their company "G" and told people to call it "plastic bag with seal" from now on.

Sounds like something Musk made up after the fact to a justify a really bad marketing decision just because he thinks it's cool to call something "x".

Brandwise it makes sense. Makes it easier to align it with his xcorp stuff like SpaceX and X.AI. he probably read a branding book amd the X idea stuck with him. i am still gonna use the words like twitter and tweets though. Hoping he launches XCOM too after spaceX is multiplanetary
