US billionaire Elon Musk on Sunday (Feb 11) shared plans to relocate one million people to Mars, without providing any timeline for the same. Reacting to a post on his social media platform X, Musk wrote, “We are mapping out a game plan to get a million people to Mars."
He also hinted at creating a local, self-sustained ecological system on Mars that could survive without any support from Earth. "Civilisation only passes the single-planet Great Filter when Mars can survive even if Earth supply ships stop coming," the US billionaire added.
He said this in response to a post which said “Starship is the largest rocket ever built and it’ll take us to Mars”.

I'm quite confident the guys at SpaceX are the real deal. If someone is going to do it it's more likely to be them... Timeframe - who knows but it's great they're at least working towards something.
I think they are secretly planning a hyperloop to go to mars. That will kill 2 birds with one stone.

my wish is that china, russia, UAE, Saudi Oil people and USA set politics aside and put their whole defence budget into making interplanetary travel a reality instead of war stuff. They have no space shuttle. 100+- shuttle missions 1984-2004. Around 20 the next two decades. Much of the rest has been Russian or third party rockets. Not tripping that much…Yeah what NASA has been doing for the last few decades pales in comparison to "launching a rocket every 4 days".
