We aren’t talking specific customers - we’re talking large advertisers with historical ad spends across the same platforms for years.

And you're not privy to why they chose that platform. Sure, you may see the ad spends but you are not privy to their results whatever that may be - which invalidates your generalisation that advertisers only care about cpa.

lol

Advertisers have always been sensitive to the unknown and drama in general. I'd imagine Elon even expected the churn.
No, advertisers have never given a **** and still don't, all they care about is branding, ie getting their brands logo seen more than the other and stuck in your head so when you go to the store, your eyes and hands automatically go to what you're familiar with... only thing thats changed over last few years is the fascists will now burn them and their kids alive in their homes if they don't bend the knee, so they do whatever the current thing cult says. If any of these companies did give a **** about anything, they wouldn't still be using things like child slave labor etc, and if the current thing cult gave a **** about any of it too, they would be calling out these companies, not celebrating them every time they update their profile pics to whatever flag is 'in' for that week

One's clear. These advertisers are being hypocrites for quitting the platform just because of activists' fears that Musk will make it a hate platform. He's said he's going to make sure everyone's fairly discriminated. The old model may have been PC but it was certainly slanted toward the left and pronouns. I doubt Musk will allow outright race based hate and antisemitism, and it's not like you don't get a lot of that on Twitter anyway regardless of their moderation.

This. Most clients would wait and see. I suspect this is a case of some nutty marketing managers jumping the gun.

Well it doesn't help that Musk apparently fired 75% of the moderation team. This guy pointed - a COO of some advertising thing - pointed that out to Musk and got himself blocked for that.

Firing the team doesn't mean the department has gone. Perhaps the staff compliment is bloated? Perhaps he felt they were not the right people and replaced them. It's all speculation and mostly brought up by the anti-elon people.

His chaotic management style is more related to trying to make money than abandoning moderation. Their moderation was incorrectly prioritised just like Facebook's.

Elon baby what is you doin? Is this really the guy that started SpaceX and made Tesla what it is today? He seems out of his depth here.

Lol even if true, and that's a big if. It is an interesting way of doing it.

Fire everyone, hire people back when necessary, more practical than having meetings with everyone trying to determine what they actually do.

Speed running business restructuring.

So, just fire everyone and then see what starts crumbling? Then find out who was responsible for keeping that crumble together then hire them back? Genius

Net profit isn't the only metric on which to determine sustainability. If Twitter wasn't sustainable Musk wouldn't have overpaid and heavily leveraged a deal for it. Now it's just a game of numbers and perception. I'd argue the perception is his biggest challenge.

Anyone with any sort of financial or business acumen can see Twitter's head count was grown far too quickly. Here it is right out of Jack's mouth.

Net profit is the biggest determinant of sustainability. Or at least a break even. A business cannot be funded indefinitely (like is was) through capital raises or debt.
