No, advertisers have never given a **** and still don't, all they care about is branding, ie getting their brands logo seen more than the other and stuck in your head so when you go to the store, your eyes and hands automatically go to what you're familiar with...
That's not true at all, brand image has always been hugely important... Why do you think Nike chooses to pay millions to have athletes use their kit, it's so people can associate the athletes success and image with their brand. It's not just familiarity, it's what that brand signifies in people's minds..

The same reason Lance Armstrong got millions of dollars in endorsements, because he was an icon who survived cancer and won seven tours, and the same reason all his sponsors ditched him when he admitted to doping.

Same story with Kanye West, he was a huge draw for Adidas until he became an anti Semitic twat and their brand image was being hurt by their association with him. Brand recognition is important, but so. Is what that brand means to people.

Advertisers being concerned about their image is nothing new, am not saying their motives

Remarketing - Remarketing is the practice of using email marketing campaigns to re-engage with customers who may have already purchased a product or service from the company.

Retargeting - This strategy involves targeting an audience that has already visited a site or shown interest in a brand's products. These customers have engaged with a product or service in some way but have not completed the sale. Typically, third-party ad placement services use the cookies stored in visitors’ browsers to determine the ads they see when they visit the site again. Visitors might see pop-up ads or banners at the top or sides of the page.
Ok then. You keep only using email to advertise to your existing customers.

I just think they need to get control over the blue / verified account feature. Once an account has been verified, it should not be possible to have the same name as another verified account and it needs to be re-verified if the name changes.

Because they're mistaking impersonation for free-speech, in the same way people mistake hate-speech for free-speech.

In both instances, a side will think that by using words, they're not actually hurting anybody.

There's no such thing as hate speech.
Impersonation is still not free speech.

Show me a word that hurt someone.

And you keep conflating/confusing terminology.

Except I'm arguing for using both. You on the other hand believe you choose one or the other. Like I said have fun convincing Takealot to only market to their existing customers via email.
