Yes, I get that you don't understand the differences between gross profit, net profit, profit before tax, top line, bottom line etc.

But that doesn't stop you from arguing with people who do know.

If you say it again does something appear in your dictionary?

I love the madness, want to buy all the gear.

Basically a parody on every other tinfoil theory out there,

Nope, arguing that all companies have to make profit is stupid.

This tells me you have never sat across a shareholder to account for financial performance.

Why would you invest in a business that does not give a return on your investment?

If that is your conclusion then you would be wrong.

Please refer to your initial statement which I take issue with "Net profit is the biggest determinant of sustainability"

Why would you invest in a business that does not give a return on your investment?
I don't know, any number of reasons? Perhap's there's a value proposition beyond the current financial status. I still don't see why you're conflating this argument with your net profit metric.

A few reasons.

The business could be a competitor and you want the IP, distribution channels, staff, products etc...
It'll be cheaper than creating this from scratch.

It could be a supplier, your products need these inputs.

You could want to put them out of business.

They have assets that you want.

You think you can run it better... kinda like what Elon is doing.

This profit derail has at least had the positive impact of making @ShaunSA climb down from his usual fence.
