A group of Muslim theologians, representing more than 20 South African mosques and their worshippers, will be approaching the courts to challenge the national lockdown regulations prohibiting large groups from attending daily prayers.

The Mujlisul Ulama of South Africa and Jamiatul Ulama of South Africa, through their attorney, have issued a letter to the Presidency, asking that the regulations be relaxed, as they have been for the taxi industry.

There are however opposing views in the Muslim community, with some saying home prayer should continue.

Secretary-general for the Jamiatul Ulama of South Africa, Ebrahim Bham, clarified that there were two different theological organisations under the same name, which was currently the subject of a legal battle.

Whilst the world is involved in an epic crisis, our muslim friends are demanding special privileges.

Send them to Marion Island. Anyone who gives us schit right now must be exiled. It’s time we put those islands to good use.

Idiots... any religious group not encouraging that their members abide by the lockdown rules should be fined.

I think the repercussions should be way more severe than a fine, considering potential loss of life when the laws are flouted.

Note that this is a small group. The majority of the councils are doing their utmost to stick to the lockdown regulations.
Here's a response to the people in the article

He knows this but will completely ignore that fact the majority of Muslims and relevant Muslim leaders in South Africa like the majority of South Africans in general have heeded the call to stay at home.

It doesn't suit his agenda so he will ignore the facts.

Indeed - rather a makeshift raft in the middle of the atlantic.
Same goes for all the other idiots that want to congregate for church/easter services or the jewish holidays
Put them on all those cruise ships now floating around doing nothing. Open the stopcocks ever so slightly before departure from harbour.

Yes, but where will that loss of life occur? This is a blessing in disguise.
More complex than that I fear. They will not keep it in their isolated pockets of stupidity and ignorance unfortunately. Will take it home to their wives and children. Innocent loss of life that can be prevented.
