Who cares if some women is suing over being fired for not wanting to wear a dress? the only reason it caught peoples attention(those who like to feed Muslim stereotypes) is because she was muslim.

The whole point of the artical is that she is using her religon as a reason not to wear the dress even when the companies policy seems to require it.

What stereotype she is working in a bar, a place most muslims would consider HARAM

PS I see some double standards here with regard to locking this thread

I am making a point.

There was no reason to close it in the first place.

Again, it's been debated, the thread's been closed, now debate the closure if you have to but don't try to resume the thread here.

And from your comments, I doubt you even read the original thread.

it's pretty obvious why the thread was closed, cathy, peterch, and maybe 1 other person were arguing/debating logically, but the other lot were trying to drag it into their islamophobia agendas.

they refuse to see reason... it is not about her religion.

So is it off limits because she is muslim?

Why, there was no reason given beyond

I have seen far worse that has been left to carry on

People who re-create closed threads have been banned before. Doing this is simply tempting fate. Just accept it and move on. They are not going to change their minds.

What is up with all the censorship in here today?

Who is the trigger happy mod?

There is nothing wrong with that thread, and just because it discusses Muslim issues, does not make it violate anything.

I don't see why it had to be closed.

This woman is clearly being selective. She thinks it is OK to work in a bar where she will be serving alcohol to people, but it is not OK to wear the uniform of the bar?

BTW, the Muslim restaurants/fast food places on the street where our offices are, none of them will serve alcohol or allow alcohol on the premises. So how is it OK for her to serve alcohol, but yet have an issue with the dress. She is being hypocritical/selective. I think the case should be dismissed.

Everyone has their own degree of moderation when it comes to dogma.
She may have thought it ok to serve drinks but not ok to be half naked.
Secondly, many non-Muslim women, prolly most, would refuse to pimp themselves.

so you agree she is being selective... choosing which traditions she will follow and which she will make an issue over?

I know many Christian woman in my social circle who choose to dress moderately but they also would probably never take a job in a bar, so it never becomes an issue.

and i see a lot of woman who are Christian that are in fact famous pornstars ... so what you are trying to say?

... my point is that if it is a Muslim person the media blows this up and makes it known ... i have never seen a headline saying "Christian man does .... "

"Hindu woman ..."

"Jewish man ... "

I think this one was highlighted because of the hypocritical stance of the woman. That is the newsworthy part. If it was a Muslim woman who refused to work in a bar because they serve alcohol it would not have made the news.
