Hi there

I ran out of bandwidth quicker than normal this month because I had a lot of updates to do on a new machine I baught. I needed a new account but with Telkom the account setup takes 4 working days. I decided to phone Mweb and see what they could do. In 30 minutes I was up and running...

Regards

Yes, suprisingly enough MWeb are quick.
I have read several people complaining about MWeb on this forum, but as yet, I have had no real problems with them. I recently ugraded my ADSL account from 3 gigs to 6 gigs and it about an hour to implemented on the system.

What does MWEB charge? I had no guidance when getting ADSL and duly had the technicians arrive on my doorstep ready to install ADSL. I, in my ignorance, thought I could continue my service with ABSA. As ABSA doesn't have the facilities in place, I had to choose a service provider. TELKOM couldn't do this immediately, so I would be left with ADSL and no service provider for a few days! This was unacceptable! I phoned MWEB who could do it immediately, but found them to be very expensive, the reason for this being, that they purchase their bandwidth from TELKOM. Can anyone tell me what the 6 gig and 9 gig costs are?

Can you sign up after hours or on weekends? Also, can you do it as a once off just to top you up type thing?

Imaginet is better still - R299 for the normal account (including e-mail addresses and webspace) but they go by a sliding scale for any additional accounts, so you're only charged according to the number of days that are left in the month.
