Mweb/Cell-C connection issues

Hi,
This is my first post and I hope I'm in the right place! :)
I got the Cell C Mweb data card on Friday and it was activated immediately. I've been trying to connect on my iMac (OS X 10.6.8) but with no joy. I get connected to the internet, it confirms sent and received data, shows an IP address but the browsers (Safari and Firefox) just say connecting but never actually go anywhere. I know the sim is working as I have it in a phone now and created a hotspot and it's working beautifully. I just can't seem to figure out what the issue is with the modem or if it's a browser thing or...?
The settings in the network connection seem to be all correct. I've put in *99# as telephone number. Then in advanced I've selected modem, vendor = generic, model = GPRS (GSM/3G), APN = internet and CID = 1.

Any thoughts or advice??

Thanks in advance:)

Try mAcme. I don't use MAC but the following is generic. Take a look and note the following data:
- type of connection (GPRS/EDGE (GSM) or 3G (HSPA variety))
- roaming or not
- Cell ID changing
Try to change to 3G-only or GPRS/EDGE-only and back to default. For Huawei modems try to change frequency in band config (Cell C use 900MHz, sometimes 2100MHz for 3G). Modem can be stuck to the wrong tower, above operation help to unstuck.
