So I get home to find that the heavily shaped Oron and Rapidshare downloads I started this morning at 7am failed. My torrents also did very little since this morning cause they are shaped to 10kb/s.

The only remaining joy and I have is a few downloads on FileSonic. They come blasting in at 440kb/s and I feel there is still some justice in the uncapped world.

And then the connection drops and on reconnect I am horrified to see FileSonic is also shaped now.

So here I sit with a 440kb/s capable connection - doing 30kb/s

telkom is shaping my interwebz @ 4 MB/s

Must say it was a stupid idea to move everyone back to their IPC network before they actually finish the upgrades to it. Everything was still good enough a week ago.. hope it returns to that by next week.

...i repeat turd

I currently have three Oron downloads - all three are doing 3.3kb/s
Seems I am throttled to 10kb/s

They're even shaping my iTunes updates from Apple!

...You must be joking. Please tell me you are! I plan to be using my iTUNES very soon to DL movies etc. :( It would suck d!ck if it was badly shaped. Hope it's just a one-time thing.

Didn't MWEB state in various threads that downloading from unshaped sources at full line speed is considered bypassing shaping?

They seem to be shaping only certain filesonic, oron and rapidshare servers - not all of them.
For example earth.oron.com is shaped but moon.oron.com is not.

I am not bypassing anything - except your usage stats maybe.

Probably - I don't check my usage stats that often - and haven't had much to downlad this month.

From MWEBs comments, downloading from anywhere thats unshaped is considered bypassing shaping :p Just saying.

Hahaha. Thats must be the most retarded idea I heard all day.

If the source is unshaped then there is no shaping to bypass. And if there were shaping to bypass then clearly its not an unshaped source.

According to Mweb's one post, if you are getting full line from a download you need to email them the site so they can add it to their shape list. They do want to shape the internet.

Tell MWEB... I even suggested that they post a list of what is and isn't shaped so we can see and ask them to shape sites we plan on using... I believe the response was that people would use this to bypass shaping.

so its a win situation for mweb... they can dump any user they please by just unshaping a site and letting the user download from it. (not saying that'd actually do this)

I think he meant that everything is shaped, that there is no more unshaped. Seems like it feels that way, at least.
