I did 134GB (4.46 GB per day average) for October on 4 meg uncapped premium and I was never throttled when periodically checking my account page.

That's nothing to be happy about, SA consumers suck donkey balls.

The meek will inherit the earth, BS you will be shagged up the arse, muwhahaha :D

Agree, 130 gigs on a 4meg account is way too little. If it's called uncapped, that's exactly what it should be.

Edited my post - I was on 4MB premium

My experience:
Throttled to below dial up speeds (I could watch the google page load bit by bit) when I hit 60GB after 9 days, on 4MB Premium. Stayed that way for 3 or 4 days. Was then away for a while so the rest of the month was fine. But those few days of hell at ±R30/day was enough

Good Day Archer, please provide me your MWEB account details via private message.

If you are on the 4MB premium package, your usage as you've provided should've been fine.

So what % of MWEB users were labelled as abusers in September?

Oops... nobody knows as we don't know the limits!

Morning MickeyD

When we switched throttling on in mid-September it affected about 3% of our total base. Right now that number is down to less than 0.3%.

So you do have known limits when only a certain subscriber base was breaching the policy… Why then state that the top 3% will be network abusers when it is now only 0.3%? All this means to me is that it can be 30% next month…

Really, this is superbly misleading.

If you are on the 4MB premium package, your usage as you've provided should've been nice and profitable for us.

FTFY.

I did 300+GB on my 4mb uncapped premium account, but I'm not willing to take the risk that I hit the arbitrary limit on MWEB - So I've downgraded ( to 1gb capped ) as of this month, and will cancel next month.

It's a shame, I've had a really great run with you guys.. Sad to see you go so wrong, so quick.

Hi bullzeye.za

Why leave if you are happy with the service ? Your usage as per the numbers are well within the parameters of your 4mb account and you do not have to worry about being throttled, if you continue to manage your usage like this.

You know MWeb guy if you told us upfront what the parameters are for each of the line speeds then you wouldn't have people up & leaving - I for instance have a 1meg line & average between 90 - 120g a month - I am really scared I am going to be throttled any day & very unsure whether I should move or not? Can you tell me straight if I will be throttlled?

Hi Madaboutbullterriers

I am unable to give you parameters, you can view your service status via MyAccount. Please PM me your account details and I will have a look at your current status.

Because you do not define the parameters. It's too big a risk to take for a high usage (not in the 3% but maybe close, sometimes in sometimes out) customer to never know if or when they will be throttled to unusable speeds.

It is partly for this reason I too am leaving. But mostly it's because I hate throttling with a passion, worrying about usage and rolling windows and thresholds and caps and whatnot is the entire reason I'm on uncapped. So I can just use my internet when I want and however much I want. Monitoring my usage is not something I'm interested in keeping up.

So goodbye Mweb :) thanks for your original uncapped revolution but your service has devolved rapidly.

To all the other Mweb customers out there - you are now one user closer to being in the top 3% ;) enjoy the throttling...

Once the current so called 3% are gone, there will be a new base of 3% users. Sooner or later you will all fall into that 3% as Mweb pushes it profit maximising objectives. That is why Mweb wont tell you what the limits are as it gives them the option of amending those limits till they are happy with the profits.

Smart of people to jump ship now. Being throttle really really sucks. Its like having no electricity at home. No websites, no emails, no series, no antivirus definitions, no nothing. Dead connection.

I`ll stay untill they throttle me for the first time. For now I prefer to be treated as an individual and dont want to be shaped to death because the network is under pressure , as a result of others pulling the ring out of it.
