I`ll stay untill they throttle me for the first time. For now I prefer to be treated as an individual and dont want to be shaped to death because the network is under pressure , as a result of others pulling the ring out of it.

Im not being shaped at all at Afrihost. I spent the extra R100 and got the 1mb business account (not shaped) which is moving nicely. We also made some changes in the house re how we consume data to ensure that Afrihost at least makes some money from us. This would have happened with Mweb if they weren't such a-holes about this whole throttling thing and blatant lies about previous warning etc etc. The only way to get back at Mweb is to jump to another ISP and keep your usage at a level where it will be profitable for your new ISP. Thats what I've done and its all good for now.

what are the parameters, i'm upgrading in november once the telkom upgrades take place and would like to know what my options are.

Parameters cannot be given because it depends on the usage per customer and ultimately the biggest amount of data used.
Say 3% of MWEB's users use 450GB and you are one of those users, then you will be throttled.

The bigger your package, the higher the usage parameters.

That's how an MWEB consultant explained it to me when I asked them about it.

Hi bullzeye.za

Why leave if you are happy with the service ? Your usage as per the numbers are well within the parameters of your 4mb account and you do not have to worry about being throttled, if you continue to manage your usage like this.

MWEBGuy: how do you know this person is well within the parameters when the official policy I've been 'recited' is that you have no parameters? That it changes dynamically? That you want me to maintain my account between limits but you're not 'able' to tell me the limits?

In my humble opinion, if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck ......... well, cancel the contract!

Good riddance!

Must admit, I did 324GB for September and I didn't get Throttled (10mbps Uncapped), even if I did, I didn't feel it. I've done 50GB's this month already and no throttling.

+1 Performance has improved over the last few weeks. Done 12GB so far this month on my 4mbps connection.

I'd have liked to stay, honestly. I just hated the idea that every single time I noticed a slow webpage loading, I thought I had finally been throttled.

Checking on my account every 4 hours for a month was not fun, and it was just a hassle..

I understand what you are saying, hopefully we can help by implementing system tools to help you with the monitoring of your account.

I hope you stay with us until then and enjoy the improved experience on our network.

Unfortunately, I've already found a new ISP for the moment.

That said, I swapped away from this particular ISP to join you guys last time, and that ride lasted two and a bit years. You showed better service and value, and I hopped. Do it again, and I'll probably hop back again.

I'm a big fan of voting with your wallet, and right now, I do not believe that the added stress of having to check all the time if I've been throttled ( By the way, do I reallly have to log in twice every single time I want to see my usage? ) is worth the saving.

I'm intentionally stressing this new ISP, and I've done 62gb this month so far, and not had a single hassle.

Thanks for your feedback, it is really appreciated.

You know where to find me should you want to come back to MWEB ;)

I have seen very little prove of that claim on this forum. Most that saw an "improvement are those that scaled down their usage and then some still got throttled. You are really starting to sound like Microsoft!

I'll come up here for Mweb even though I don't subscribe with them or agree with their policy.

I have friends that are on their premium packages and they use about 200gb a month. They should never feel throttling ever hopefully - 4mb accounts.

And I must say they have zero problems. Issues I myself am having with Twich they don't. Hulu, Netflix etc they all run without a hitch.

So for people that don't dl heavy I am pretty convinced that Mweb would be perfect.

I wonder how MWEB Guy must feel reading all the negative posts :p
But truth is MWEB deserves it. Maybe MWEB should focus on a better system to manage bandwidth. You'll make it much easier on yourselves. Most users go to MWEB because torrenting is exceptionally stable with MWEB. 99% of torrenting involves piracy. You're the idiots for allowing people to torrent like bosses even though it's straining your network.

I'm trying not to be negative toward MWEB.

Honestly, I felt for two and a bit years that they were absolutely the best uncapped ISP around. That perception has changed, but maybe they're trying to target a different demographic? What I do think is frustrating to the forum is MWEB Guy trying to convince people that they should stay when the product is clearly not meant for them.

I know it's his job, and he does a really great job in support, so I'll not bash him. When MWEB comes around again, I'll probably be one of the first to hop on over back. ( And when my new ISP screws up, this situation will be reversed. Remember all the hate for Afrihost's AUP? It took a while, but they changed it )
