Sentech has recently indicated that they will invest in a WiMax network after receiving R 500-Million from government...
i love to trail their wimax.... although i might be classified as abuser/bandwidth hog
erm 80 ms latency to where exactly? to the nearest broadcast tower? to a locally hosted saix server? to a server hosted internationally, i.e. europe or america? sound like someone trying very hard no to tell the whole story.
Where did they say there is a 1GB cap????If they still have a 1Gb cap count me out...
Report back from a friend who has a Wimax Trial with MWeb.
Below is his words I jotted in my notebook. I cannot answer questions on his behalf, but if you wish to know more I can ask and get back to you.
Pros:
1. More solid than ADSL
2. Uploads are stronger and faster than ADSL
3. Hail and bad weather recently had no effect on download speed.
4. Symmetrical speeds - Up and down is the same.
5. At times speeds are faster than 512Kb and solid.
Cons:
Intermittent interruption of service, but you are notified via SMS to the disruption. It is a trial and they are testing?
>He is basically happy. Take into account that my friend's primary connection is 4096Kb ADSL, so this is a positive review imo.
Speed is a constant and solid up and down 512Kb and it seems recently this speed is even a bit quicker.cool. thanks for the info. it seems though that other ppl (telkom wimax) arent getting symmetrical speeds (only 256kb upstream) but perhaps the mweb service is structured differently.
what do you mean by "more solid than adsl"? online more often? speeds more constant?
Forget about 256k, 512k and 1MB, Give us 10MBit+ like elsewhere in the world. Think of all the people you can catch out with your 1GB caps on 10mbit connections
