So i was just wondering... could some hacker, go into the server and read all the messages sent.

Just curious, know its illegal;)

I doubt they save all messages.. I mean, with 900 000 users - that's alotta messages they've gotta keep. And from my own experience, I know that 60% of all messages are "hi, how are you?" "what you doing?" etc..

It is most probably possible but most probably completely pointless... i dont think that it would be logical to keep the data.

now that they dont miss call you when you got a message there no use in using it. I'm not going to check everyday for some message that might not ever arrive. I like that they fixed mxit much better now. I used it long ago when it first came out and never used it again till now. Much better software now though. Pity they dont miss call you anymore.

to be honest i think the system sucks, or perhaps its support on motorola v3 sucks. for the life of me, it took about 30 mins to get connected to their network when i needed to connect, and once connected it seemed as if my contacts were either ignoring me, or not receiving my messages.

Worked great for about an hour on my N70. Then changed the password and all hel l broke loose..I could not sign on anymore(Reinstall and creating a new account did not work). There system seems to be a bit buggy, but that said my brother has been using it on a old sony literally hours a day on the chat rooms with out any problems. seems like it is just a case of good luck\bad luck.

what is MXit?

dont feel bad I didn't know what it was till the other people at work started to talk about their kids using.

Damn I always think that I'm still a young, fit and with it :o

their system is a bit dodge.. but it works. According to comments on their forum they're looking at incorporating features such as sending files over Mxit (obviously smaller files like images due to GRPS costs)

I'm saving tons with mxit. My wife is a school teacher so she can only sms while at work. I send her messages to her phone from my pc via Google talk. So no typing on the phone for me. She is obviously a bit jealous that she has to use her phone to type me back.

Any server can be hacked. I doubt they keep any messages after you read them.

mxIT is a great service! It might not be designed the best in the world however it works and everyone uses it. There are too many people on and thats why you can't connect at certain times.

With 900 000 users Im sure cellphone operators are feeling it

One of my best friends is dating the owner of mxit's (Clockspeed Mobile (Pty) Ltd, i think) daughter. Located in Stellenbosch and from what I saw & heard, they are no n00bs when it comes to security.

MXit is a great app and it's no surprise that they're closing in on 1 million users. So with that many people I don't think they'd keep records of conversations, I could be wrong though.

Jeeva, they're like in their 20s aren't they? How could they have old kids?
