Having the ability to tell right from wrong and able to take responsibility for herself and her own wellbeing.

If parenting was that easy, then why are there so many screwed-up people out there?

lol abzo do you even know the first thing about how he/she raised his/her daughter?

Pooky please, the parents are talking here. He's somewhat admitted it himself, stop looking for arguments.

I am not admitting or denying anything. The situation is what it is and whether I am or was a good parent is not relevant.

Outch! True though. In other words, it is a perpetuating cycle. Pity the children of future generations ...

It's not too late for you to take control of the situation and to help your daughter exert her own independence.
She needs to take responsibility for her own life and you can help her with that.

Not always. I have seen some pretty screwed up parents bring up very balanced kids.

Our children's personalities are a mixture of our own and theirs. Their personalities are formed through their interaction with others and from what they experience and or are exposed to. In essence we are thus the ones that shape their personalities through our own interactions with them as well as through what we choose to expose them to.

So unfortunately our children tend to become what we want/allow them to become.

No that is incorrect. This is completely unlawful. The boss is not a medical officer who are they to say she must go on anti-depressants ? the boss must resolve office conflict with disciplinary action.

This is no different than a teacher saying your kid needs ritalin.

Your daughter should not be so weak and should hold her ground against her employer. If they dismiss her she can take it up with the CCMA. If you are not clinically depressed you dont take anti-depressants end of story there are no ifs and buts

What exactly are these anti-depressants? For example, I've heard some people refer to benzodiazepine tranquilisers, and antipsychotics, as antidepressants. So exactly what medication is she being forced to take?

Not sure of the circumstances but why is your daughter getting intimidated by this "boss". Is she desperate to hold on to this Job? If not I would sue the company and move on.

She mentioned Lexamil, which is an SSRI.

Teach your daughter to stand up for herself.

Do you boss your daughter around?
